Chelsea have broken off contract negotiations with reported Tottenham target Didier Drogba, it has been claimed.

According to Goal.com, Drogba could leave the club for nothing at the end of the season as talks regarding a new deal continue to falter.

The 33-year-old is said to be requesting a two-year extension that will see him end his career at Stamford Bridge, having moved to Chelsea from Marseille in 2004.

Spurs, meanwhile, were credited with a bid for the Ivorian in the summer - which was rejected by Chelsea - but Harry Redknapp is said to remain keen on Drogba.

The Spurs boss had attempted to bring Drobga to White Hart Lane in order to bolster his strikeforce but, instead, signed Emmanuel Adebayor on loan from Manchester City.

Andre Villas-Boas, meanwhile, stated last week that he expected Drogba to extend his stay with Chelsea.

"I don't see it as a big issue," said the Blues boss.

"Players who are attached emotionally to this club - and Didier is attached emotionally to this club - will eventually renew their contract.

"So I go into no panic on that situation."
