Chelsea look set to miss out on the latest sensation to come out of Brazil, as Real Madrid's interest in Sao Paulo star Lucas increases according to talkSPORT.

The 19-year-old attacking midfielder has already been capped ten times for his country, and is widely regarded as a star of the future - hence why he has attracted interest from all over the globe.

After the Blues have been repeatedly rebuffed by Lucas' compatriot Neymar over a move to Stamford Bridge, Blues boss Andre Villas-Boas has now turned his attention to the Sao Paulo's teen sensation.

But according to reports in Spanish newspaper El Confidencial, Lucas' agent Juan Figer has also recently held talks with the La Liga giants over a potential move to the Bernabeu.

Tied to a long-term contract in South America, Sao Paulo are rumoured to demanding an astronomical fee in the region of £45million for their star turn, a sum that Chelsea and Real Madrid will both be reluctant to pay, despite their respective riches.

The limitless wealth of Barclays Premier League rivals Manchester City has meant that their name has also been mooted as a potential destination for Lucas, but the reality is that Chelsea and Madrid will go head-to-head for his signature.
