The Republic of Ireland secured qualification to the Euro 2012 playoffs last night, but Scotland's hopes were ended in a 3-1 defeat to Spain.

Northern Ireland and Wales also failed to qualify, but a 1-0 victory at Belgium confirms the Red Dragon's progress under Gary Speed.

Elsewhere, Germany finished their campaign top of Group A, while France reached the finals thanks to a late Samir Nasri penalty.

Tottenham and Liverpool are reportedly battling each other for the signature of £12m rated Lille striker Moussa Sow.

Arsenal could move for Porto striker Hulk with the player's agent claiming the Gunners have expressed interest.

Chelsea are thought to be ready to meet the £11m asking price for Atletico Madrid centre back Diego Godin.
