Arsenal could be punished in their failure to sign Gary Cahill, according to Talksport, with the defender now fielding interest from Inter Milan and Juventus.
Cahill has been a star for Bolton since the 25-year-old joined the club in 2008. As a result, he has attracted interest from numerous European clubs.
Arsenal were said to be the front runners for Cahill in the summer, but Wenger wasn’t willing to pay £16 million for the England international.
Cahill is in the final year of his contract with Bolton, and while Arsenal decided to wait until January to chase his signature, Inter Milan and Juventus are now reportedly considering making offers, which will no doubt drive the price up if Cahill wants to leave.
Talksport claims that Inter manager Claudio Ranieri has met Massimo Moratti to discuss Cahill, and the two are in agreement that he would be a good addition to the Serie A side.
Meanwhile, Cahill’s representative has been speaking to Juventus about a possible deal, leaving Arsenal lagging behind and possibly having to fork out more than the £16 million asking price next year.
