Liverpool stopper makes first-team plea

Liverpool defender Danny Wilson says he needs more playing time and that he will consider a loan move away from the club in order to prove himself.

The 19-year-old came to Merseyside with a big reputation after impressing in the SPL with Rangers, but has failed to establish himself in the senior side since joining in 2010.

The young Scot has made only nine appearances for Liverpool, and Kenny Dalglish is said to be happy to allow Wilson to further his education elsewhere for the time being.

"There's nothing worse than not being able to go out on the pitch on a Saturday and play," he confirmed.

"But I need to just keep my head down and hopefully I'll either get some game time at Liverpool or get the chance to go somewhere else and try and prove myself."

Wilson has been heavily linked with a loan move to Blackpool, following in the footsteps of Reds teammate Jonjo Shelvey who swaps Anfield for Bloomfield Road for the remainder of the season.

An opportunity for regular football in the Npower Championship with Ian Holloway's side would be an attractive proposition for the Liverpool starlet, who has also set his sights on re-establishing himself in the Scotland national team.
