Chelsea have finally come to an agreement with Ashley Cole, according to the Daily Mirror, with the winger ready to sign a two year extension on his current contract with the club.
Cole has had speculation surrounding him that he might make a move abroad, to build up game time and push for a place in the Euro 2012 England squad.
But Andre Villas-Boas is reportedly a big fan of Cole, and wanted to shore up a deal with the star to stay at Chelsea for the long-term.
With transfer speculation getting louder around Didier Drogba, and the striker currently stalling on contract talks, Villas-Boas was hoping to get the Cole situation sorted as soon as possible.
Cole recently praised Villas-Boas for his work at Stamford Bridge, with the Chelsea manager currently on a good run in both the league and the Champions League.
“Age is just a number. He has experience of being at Porto, a big club,” Cole said.
“Hopefully he can bring that glory to Chelsea, but I don’t think the age thing is anything to worry about.
“He is our manager and we have to go out and fight for him.
“Whatever manager comes in we respect him. We are not kids. Everyone thinks there are egos at Chelsea, but there aren’t.”
