Scotland striker could join Celtic 'one day'

James McFadden could join Celtic in the future, according to his agent, despite rejecting a move to Parkhead in favour of joining Everton.

The Scottish striker was released by Birmingham during the summer and has been the subject of interest from numerous clubs over the past few months.

Eventually, though, McFadden chose to return to Goodison Park in order to have another tilt at the Barclays Premier League.

The 28-year-old did, however, seriously consider joining Celtic, although found the opportunity to link-up with David Moyes too good an offer to refuse.

"Why would someone turn down the chance to join Celtic for the Premier League? The answer is very simple," McFadden's agent Rob Segal told the Scottish Sun.

"He just wanted to play in the highest standard possible.

"James wants to play at the best level he can. It's very hard to argue that's not in the Premier League."

But, added Segal, McFadden may eventually join the Bhoys, should they reignite their interest in him at some stage.

"The lure of playing for Celtic was massive," he explained. "He came very close, believe me, and made a tough decision.

"But James feels he has unfinished business in the Premier League.

"Maybe one day he will sign for Celtic — if they still wanted him.

"He's still young enough to make an impact and I think that's something he can't turn down."
