Livermore happy with first-team chance

Jake Livermore is taking the rough with the smooth, as he weighs up the delight at making only his second Barclays Premier League start for Tottenham in Sunday's 2-2 draw against Newcastle, with the frustration of being involved in a game that ultimately felt like a defeat.

The 21-year-old midfielder admitted he was left with a bitter-sweet feeling after the game, especially when Spurs restored their lead mid-way through the second half - he felt they should have gone on to win the match.

"As a team we've done well of late," said Livermore. "We've been in a good run of form and that draw felt like a defeat.

"We had enough chances to bury the game. At 2-1, we had two or three great opportunities to put the game to bed, but these things happen."

With games coming thick and fast, Livermore has been given much more responsibility in the first-team this year, with his latest run-out at St James' Park the 11th of Spurs' 12 first-team fixtures he has been involved with in 2011-12.

"The manager has put a lot of trust in me this season and I appreciate that," he continued. "I'm fortunate, I've had a good start to the season and so has the club.

"As I've always said, I just look forward to the next game now."
