Former Liverpool youngster Zak Whitbread is not available for the match-up with Norwich this weekend, according to Paul Lambert, with the manager admitting the centre back is still recovering from injury.
Whitbread is suffering from a long-term hamstring injury, and was left out of the Norwich reserve squad this week when City took on Aston Villa.
“Zak won’t be available [for the Liverpool clash],” Lambert said.
“It’s taking a little bit longer than we thought but I don’t want to rush him. He is doing fine at the minute. I won’t rush him to get back.
“If you do that, you might get problems later on so let him be fine in himself and hopefully he’ll not be too far.”
Norwich have no other injury concerns for the Liverpool clash, and will be looking to defeat the Reds when they travel to Anfield in order to build up the points needed to stay in the top tier this season.
The match will be tough for the Barclays Premier League newcomers though, with Liverpool banking on a full blown return to form from Steven Gerrard to take a much needed three points.
