Lucas Rodrigues Moura da Silva
DOB: August 13, 1992
Position: Attacking midfielder
Brazilian starlet Lucas - a reported target for Liverpool - says he is learning to cope with the attention and adulation that comes with being an international footballer.
Lucas captained Brazil under-20s to South American Youth Championship in February and was rewarded with a call-up to the senior side a month later.
The 19-year-old has since gone on to make 10 appearances for the five-time World Cup winners and scored his maiden goal for his country against arch-rivals Argentina in late November.
His performances for Brazil, as well as those for club side Sao Paulo, have led to plenty of interest from overseas, with Liverpool and others said to be pursuing the midfielder.
But Lucas will not have his head turned by Liverpool just yet, and can deal with the attention both on and off the field.
"It’s true, there have been lots of changes in a short space of time – everything’s happening very fast for me in my career," he told Fifa.com.
"In less than a year so many things have occurred in my life but even so, yes I’m still able to walk around the city. I’m pretty relaxed about it
He added: I’m happy that big European clubs are interested in me, as it shows I’ve been doing my job well.
"But I’m still very young and I’ve got a lot to learn. Right now my mind is fully focused on Sao Paulo."
Should Liverpool formalise their interest in Lucas, however, they will reportedly have to pay £80 million to activate the release clause in his contract.
This, of course, would be far more than Liverpool or anyone else for that matter would spend to sign Lucas at this stage in his career.
But who's to say the fleet-footed midfielder will not be able to command such a fee when he reaches his peak? He is, without doubt, one of the South America's most exciting prospects.
