The pressure mounts on Steve Kean after Rafael van der Vaart condemned Blackburn to a 2-1 defeat at White Hart Lane.

Van der Vaart opened the scoring after a quarter of an hour following some fine work from Spurs full-back Kyle Walker down the right hand side.

Mauro Formica, however, restored parity on 28 minutes after firing in a flick on from Blackburn defender Chris Samba following a Rovers free-kick.

Van der Vaart, though, made sure of the result with a fantastic curling effort from 20 yards, eight minutes after the half-time interval, to continue his excellent recent form.

Spurs now climb above Liverpool in fifth place and find themselves three points behind Newcastle, but with a game in hand.

Blackburn, meanwhile, are at the foot of the Barclays Premier League with only five points from their nine fixtures.
