Gunners boosted in winger contract talks - report

Theo Walcott is set to snub a deal with Juventus, Metro claims, and sign a new deal with Arsenal, with the winger deciding he believes in the Gunners’ ability to end their trophyless run.

Walcott is coming into the last 18 months of his contract at the Emirates, and has been coy when asked about his future at the club.

Keen to avoid another Samir Nasri situation, Arsene Wenger is desperately trying to work out contract details to extend Walcott’s stay at Arsenal. But after the Gunners manager admitted that this summer half the squad wanted to leave, transfer speculation suggested that the England international might stall on contract talks in the hope of a better offer from another club.

Juventus were reported this week to be at the frontline for Walcott’s signature, but Arsenal are now looking likely to keep their star, and the news couldn’t be better for Gunners’ fans as Arsenal start to climb their way back up the table after a disappointing start to the season.

Recently Walcott said that he was hoping to talk to Wenger about a new contract, with the 22-year-old telling reporters: “I will listen to what Arsenal have to say.

“Hopefully we will sit down with the club soon and talk things over.”
