Arsenal target Esteban Granero has decided to make a move to Malaga over the Gunners in the January transfer window, according to Talksport.

Granero looked set to move to Tottenham during the summer, when the storm over Luka Modric’s move to Chelsea hit fever pitch.

But Tottenham ended up keeping Modric, and Arsenal looked likely to make a swoop on their rivals’ target this January, with Granero starring for Real Madrid.

But with Malaga getting new owners and a new-look squad, Granero is reportedly hoping to stay in Spain, and has turned down the option of moving to Arsenal in the next transfer window, in a major blow to the club.

Wenger will no doubt be on the lookout for a playmaker in January, after Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas departed Arsenal last summer, but whether he can persuade Granero to change his mind and move to the Emirates remains to be seen.
