Kaboul takes Spurs plaudits
Harry Redknapp and Sebastien Bassong have both heaped praise on Younes Kaboul
Harry Redknapp and Sebastien Bassong have both praised Younes Kaboul’s performance against Blackburn on Sunday, with the defender stopping Chris Samba from scoring an equaliser late-on as Spurs held on to win 2-1.
Samba was clearly the danger man for Rovers as Tottenham travelled to Ewood Park, but Kaboul was able to hold his own alongside Bassong and stop Blackburn's captain from scoring.
And while Redknapp praised Samba’s performance against the north London club, he believes that when the pressure is piled on, Kaboul has shown that he’s worth a place on the side.
“Kaboul is a fantastic header of the ball, but today he had it all on his plate with Samba, who is as good as I have seen," Redknapp told Sky Sports.
"For getting his head on the ball and getting into your box, he is amazing. They have got three or four great, big lads and him, and he heads every ball. Big Samba goes up, gets on the end of it and you are fighting for your lives."
Bassong also expressed delight at playing alongside Kaboul, with the Cameroon international insisting that the star has been a worthy purchase for Tottenham.
“We are happy to play together, especially when we win. I now wish we play together and keep winning,” he explained.
"I love to play alongside Younes. He is a terrific player. He has everything. He is a French international player. He is worth it."
And Kaboul agreed that he is finding the partnership with Bassong to be second to none after injuries brought the pair together at White Hart Lane.
He added: “I am happy for Bassong. He is in great form and we need that.
“He is doing the job every time he plays and he is a strong lad so we can trust him 100 per cent. There is no doubt about that."
