Aldershot have Danny Hylton returning to the starting line up after the top-scorer recovered from injury. And Ross Worner is likely to be chosen again after the keeper put in some stunning performances for the Shots.
Jonny Evans is suspended for Manchester United following his red card against Manchester City, while Dimitar Berbatov, Antonio Valencia, Michael Carrick and Michael Owen all look set to build up some game time and feature in the match.
Owen not taking game lightly
Michael Owen has insisted that Manchester United are taking their match-up with Aldershot very seriously, with the Red Devils looking to bounce back from the weekend and show they can still challenge for silverware.
United lost to Manchester City 6-1 on Sunday, and Sir Alex Ferguson called the match one of the worst he had watched in his entire playing and managerial career.
And Owen believes that tonight’s Carling Cup match-up is a chance for the Red Devils to show that they can bounce back from a hefty defeat and show how strong they really are.
"It's a competition we want to do well in,” he told the official Manchester United website.
"We've done quite well in the Carling Cup over the years and we want to progress and win a trophy. That's the end game.
"It's obviously going to be a massive game for Aldershot with Manchester United coming into town. I'm sure it'll be a full house and we're treating it as an important game as well.
"There's players who weren't involved against City, me being one of them, and a lot of the lads need games so it'll be quite a strong Manchester United playing against them."
