Martin Jol believes that Bobby Zamora will respond to his miss against Everton last weekend with a top-class performance in the next match-up with Wigan.
Zamora missed a sitter with the score still at 1-1 against the Toffees, and when Fulham were eventually defeated 3-1, the striker took the performance particularly harshly.
But Jol believes that Zamora will make up for his mistake this weekend, as Fulham prepare to face Wigan away on Saturday.
"He knows it is probably not the first time," Jol said. "He is a striker, so he will miss chances in the future.
"Anybody else up front will miss chances, and even from midfield. So I couldn't see any difference [in Zamora]."
With Jol putting together a strikeforce for the weekend that will no doubt include Bryan Ruiz, the manager said that he wants to create a more attacking style of play to keep Fulham scoring.
Of Ruiz’s performance against Everton, in which he scored in the 67th minute, Jol said: "I feel it is a sign for anybody else, the media, the fans, that he is capable of scoring that sort of goal.
"But I knew. That is why we got him over here because he has got that extra talent of setting up goals and scoring goals."
Fulham are currently 17th on the Barclays Premier League table, and have collected just seven points from nine matches. The Cottagers are desperately in need of a win this weekend to move away from the relegation zone as the season wears on.
