Nicolas Gaitan will move to Manchester United next summer, according to the Independent, with Dimitar Berbatov looking likely to exit the club as his contract winds up at Old Trafford.
Gaitan has performed particularly well for Benfica since the 23-year-old signed to the club last summer, and although this week he signed a contract tying him to the Portuguese club for five years and with improved terms, United are still hoping to capture the star.
Benfica are insisting on a fee of at least £35 million for Gaitan, but with United hoping to sell Berbatov next summer for top dollar, the club will be hoping to bring in a flexible player who can score goals.
Gaitan has scored eight times in 32 appearances for his current side, and United believe that with great depth in their striking ranks, they should go for a more versatile player to take over the ranks from Berbatov.
