United ‘monitor’ Lukaku’s former teammate – report

The Manchester Evening News claims that Sir Alex Ferguson is monitoring Argentinian defender Lucas Biglia, with the 25-year-old high on the Manchester United manager’s wish list for January.

Biglia has been a star for Anderlecht since the Argentine signed to the club in 2006, and has watched teammate Romelu Lukaku move on to Chelsea and show his worth for one of the biggest clubs in the world.

As a result, Biglia is hoping for a big move as well, and United are said to be interested in bringing him on board in January.

After United were beaten 6-1 by Manchester City at the weekend, Sir Alex Ferguson is on the lookout for defensive reinforcements, with the manager admitting he was particularly disappointed with Patrice Evra and Rio Ferdinand’s efforts on the day.

Raphael Varane and Fabio Corntrao had both been linked with moves to United over the summer, but the pair chose to move to Real Madrid instead.

But at 25-years-old, Biglia is a good fit for United, with Ferguson hoping to bring a more experienced defender into the mix.
