Villas-Boas ready for striker deal - report

Published Add your comment

Andre Villas-Boas is ready to sell Nicolas Anelka in January, according to the Daily Mail, with the striker producing disappointing form against QPR at the weekend.

Villas-Boas is said to be running out of patience with the star, who has spoken publicly about his desire for more game time, and is making it clear that if other clubs are interested, the Blues manager is listening.

Chelsea were still in contract talks with Anelka, but when the former France international missed a penalty against Everton during the week, Villas-Boas called off talks as he considers offloading the 32-year-old.

While Chelsea are targeting numerous stars for the January transfer window, Villas-Boas is reportedly coming around to the idea of selling Anelka for a younger option up front.

But with two months until the January window opens, Anelka still has some time to turn his fortunes at Chelsea around.
