Robin van Persie is the finest striker currently operating in the Barclays Premier League, according to a poll conducted by GiveMeFootball.
The Arsenal captain has been in supreme form over the past 10 months, during which he has netted 36 times in 42 appearances for club and country.
With this statistic in mind, 32 percent of the 30,000 fans polled decided that van Persie is indeed the best player in his position in English football at the present time.
The Dutchman has been simply sensational in 2011 and ended the previous campaign with 23 goals in 25 games between January 1 and May 22.
The start of of the new season has also been particularly fruitful for van Persie, with the 28-year-old having found the net 13 times since August - including four strikes in one game for Holland against San Marino.
Meanwhile, van Persie had to beat off some illustrious company to win the public vote, as Wayne Rooney, Luis Suarez and Fernando Torres also gained significant support.
Despite being top of the scoring charts, Rooney took seven percent less of the vote than van Persie while Suarez garnered almost 7500 nominations.
Chelsea hitman Torres was also in the running having won 13 percent, while Manchester City hotshot Sergio Aguero and on-loan Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor brought up the rear.
