Gareth Bale scored a brace and Rafael van der Vaart kept up his fantastic form as Tottenham downed QPR 3-1 at White Hart Lane this afternoon.
Tottenham dominated the first half, with Bale’s brilliance pushing through QPR’s defence to score off Aaron Lennon’s pass in the 20th minute. Spurs went up 2-0 after Van der Vaart put through a second attempt on goal from Ledley King’s missed shot.
QPR made two changes at the half, with Jay Bothroyd and Jamie Mackie coming on, and while the pair made a difference to the Hoops' attacking play, it wasn’t enough to stop Tottenham from keeping the lead.
Bale was again the danger man in the second half, cancelling out Bothroyd’s 62nd minute goal in the 72nd minute, striking from the edge of the box.
Tottenham are now fifth on the Barclays Premier League table, and are level on points with Newcastle and Chelsea.
For QPR, meanwhile, the day was one to forget for many reasons, with Fitz Hall coming off the ground injured. The side are now 12th on the table, with only 12 points from 10 games.
