Sir Alex Ferguson is targeting Newcastle midfielder Yohan Cabaye, according to People, with the midfielder catching the Manchester United manager’s eye after moving from France and shining in the Barclays Premier League.
Cabaye came to an agreement with the Toon in June, with Lille letting go of the 25-year-old for a reported €5 million fee.
And while United hadn’t been particularly interested in Cabaye before, Ferguson has been keeping tabs on the star’s performances for Newcastle, and is impressed by what he’s seen.
Good in both attack and defence, Cayabe has scored two goals in his last two appearances for the north eastern club, and while Ferguson knows that Alan Pardew wouldn’t sell the France international yet, in a season or two he might be more willing to let go of Cabaye for the right price.
United are hoping to bolster their squad in a big way come January, so when they suit up to cross-town rivals Manchester City again they have the strength and depth to get revenge for their 6-1 loss over a week ago.
Ferguson is reportedly targeting a large list of playmakers, and Cabaye is one of them according to the Sunday paper.
