Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley's ankle injury sustained against Everton keeps him out of the visit of the Romanian champions.

Chris Smalling, Ryan Giggs and Ashley Young, all absent for the trip to Goodison Park are still out while Rio Ferdinand set to deputise for suspended captain Nemanja Vidic.

The visitors will have Filip and Adrian Salageanu both available following respective leg and knee injuries, but Milan Perendija misses out through suspension.

Ferguson demands United win

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson insists nothing short of a win over Group C whipping boys Otelul Galati will do as the Premier League champions look to kick-start their Champions League campaign.

Having picked up just five points from their opening three group games, United have failed to get going in Europe, but picked up their first win of competition away against Galati a fortnight ago.

The club's domestic form has seen them lose heavily to Manchester City, and Ferguson is hoping that the weekend's win over Everton coupled with a previous win over the Romanians will stand them in good stead.

"We need to win that is for sure," Ferguson said.

"Winning over there gives us that incentive to go on now. I think from experience from the last game they are very organised and committed, a very strong and aggressive team and I think we will need to put a good performance in to beat them,"

Ferguson's opposite number, Dorinel Munteanu, knows all about getting over English opposition after being part of the Romania side that defeated England in Euro 2000, and the boss hopes he can repeat the trick come their visit to Old Trafford.

"Nobody has had to face a team like this. Manchester United are one of the top clubs in the world," he said.

"Two weeks ago, they beat us at home, now we have to turn that result around.

"The key will be to eliminate our mistakes. It will not be easy and there are bound to be a few nerves but we aim to provide a spectacle at the 'Theatre of Dreams'."
