Wes Brown is hoping to make a notable impact on his first return to Old Trafford since leaving Manchester United for Sunderland.

The 32-year-old collected 15 medals in as many years with United before moving to the Stadium of Light during the summer.

He has since featured 11 times for the Black Cats, who have been inconsistent at best so far this season.

Sunderland have, however, taken four points from the last possible six and travel to Manchester on Saturday with a renewed sense of optimism.

And Brown is certainly looking forward to what is sure to be an intriguing encounter.

"It'll be good; I'm really looking forward to going back to Old Trafford," he said.

"Obviously I had only ever previously been at Manchester United so it will be special to go back.

"I will enjoy the day but I'm going back there to try and win as a Sunderland player and hopefully we can do that.

"It will be nice to catch up with a few people I've not seen for a while before and after the game but during those 90 minutes I'll be fully focused on hopefully getting a good result for Sunderland."
