Liverpool have reportedly reignited their interest in Manchester United target Ricky van Wolfswinkel.
The Dutch striker has been in fine form since his summer move from Utrecht to Sporting CP, and has found the net eight times in 12 appearances.
United have been credited with genuine interest in van Wolfswinkel, and reports have suggested Sir Alex Ferguson has posted representatives to monitor the 22-year-old.
Liverpool, meanwhile, had been frequently linked with the young forward prior to his switch to the Estádio José Alvalade but, whether or not the Reds made an official approach to bring him to Anfield is unclear.
But, according to talkSPORT, Liverpool have been watching van Wolfswinkel, while Spanish outfit Valencia have also joined United in pursuit of his signature.
Should Liverpool and United decide formalise their interest in van Wolfswinkel, then they are most likely to wait until next summer to do so.
Meanwhile, Liverpool have also been linked with a swoop for Borussia Dortmund's Robert Lewandowski and United are said to be keen to bring Klaas Jan Huntelaar to Old Trafford.
