Robin Van Persie produced another startling display as Arsenal extended their unbeaten run to 11 matches with a comfortable win over West Bromwich Albion.

Fresh from a hat-trick against Chelsea last-week, Van Persie struck the opener, after Theo Walcott’s shot was parried.

The Premier League’s top scorer then turned provider, finding Thomas Vermaelen and then Mikel Arteta either side of half-time.

The mid-week Champions League draw with Marseille had tempered expectations around the Emirates Stadium following The Gunners’ victory over Chelsea last weekend.

West Brom, without Peter Odemwingie, came into the contest boast back-to-back derby wins over Wolverhampton Wanderers and Aston Villa and could profess to have beaten Arsene Wenger’s men in the same fixture last season.

However, mid-way through the first half Arsenal grabbed the initiative as the man of the moment Van Persie pounced after Walcott’s initial effort had been saved.

The elusive Dutchman played a part in doubling Arsenal’s lead as he laid up Vermaelen to crash home before the break.

Even in the second period The Baggies couldn’t keep pace with Van Persie, who fed Arteta, whose sweeping finish capped a stunning performance.
