Manchester United are tracking Newcastle United midfielder Cheik Tiote, according to The People.
The Ivory Coast midfielder has been one of the shining lights for The Toon since his move from FC Twente in the summer of 2010.
And such has been his form, that United are ready to take a look at the midfield.
Tiote's uncompromising style, which saw him pick up 14 yellow cards last season, has been the cornerstone of Newcastle's unbeaten start in the Barclays Premier League.
Tiote is expected to return to action for Newcastle for the clashes with Manchester City, United and Chelsea following the international break.
United are in dire need of a ball-winning midfield player, after being thrashed by neighbours City and could be looking towards Newcastle's main man, who signed from Twente for £3.5 million.
