Liverpool have made contact with Barcelona over the signing of Seydou Keita, according to talkSPORT.

The Malian is out of favour at the Nou Camp having made just five appearances for the club this season and had been linked with a move to Anzhi for a final pay-day.

However, the 31-year-old is also subject to interest from Liverpool.

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has reportedly made contract with the Catalans over the availability of the midfielder.

Despite the Russian big spenders providing an opportunity earn a big wage near the end of his career, a move to Liverpool would allow Keita to contest for honours in England, where he is yet to apply his trade after spells in Frances and Spain.
