Arsenal are reported to be considering a January offer for Manchester United target Javi Garcia.

The Benfica midfielder has been frequently linked with a move away from the Estadio da Luz in recent weeks, with AC Milan also said to be monitoring his situation with interest.

According to Cadena Ser, Arsene Wenger is contemplating a bid to bring the Spaniard to Arsenal in the New Year as he continues his pursuit of midfield reinforcements.

Gunners star Jack Wilshere is still set for a significant spell on the sidelines, and Wenger is keen to further bolster his ranks when the opportunity arises.

Goal.com reports that, along with Arsenal, Manchester United are also monitoring Garcia, who has a release clause of €30 million written into his contract.

Similarly to Wenger, United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is also looking for extra numbers in the middle of the park having failed to significantly strengthen during the summer.

United have also been linked with Roma's Daniele de Rossi, while Arsenal are understood to be pursuing Rennes enforcer Yann M'Vila.
