England striker Darren Bent believes Fernando Torres is the best forward in the Barclays Premier League despite going through a difficult period in his career.
Torres has failed to properly hit his straps for Chelsea since his move from Liverpool in the January transfer window.
The Spaniard's glaring miss against Blackburn Rovers is the latest in a catalogue of spurred opportunities, but Bent says they mean nothing.
"Torres is the best striker in the Premier League when fit, he's that good," Bent said. "I've followed him right from Atletico Madrid to Chelsea.
"Even though he missed a chance at Blackburn, he's still the best.
"He's quick, powerful, has a good touch, can shoot with either foot and use his head."
The 27-year-old has two goals for The Blues in the league this season, lagging behind the league's top scorers Robin Van Persie, Edin Dzeko and Wayne Rooney.
Bent, who is likely to start for England against Spain in the absence of Rooney this weekend, has five league goals for Aston Villa this term, and given his pedigree could also lay claim to the label of the Premier League's best striker.
