Spurs' Serie A striker target reveals Premier League dream

Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero has revealed that he wants a crack at the Premier League before he finally retires from football, alerting the interest of Tottenham.

TalkSPORT reports how the 37-year-old Italian, who is the all-time leading goalscorer and appearance-maker for the Old Lady, will not be offered a new deal to extend his 18-year stint in Turin, when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is a known admirer of Del Piero, and may be tempted to try and lure him to White Hart Lane.

His wages are bound to be a sticking point for Tottenham, but the fact he would be available on a free transfer, will mean more money to offer him a bumper deal.

"I have to confess a secret," Del Piero told France Football. "I love the Premier League. What a great league.

"Of course I would like to play there before retiring from football.

"I might be 37-years-old but I don't have a time limit. I want to continue playing football."

Everton and Blackburn have also been credited with an interest in the 2006 World Cup winner - who has scored 185 goals in 462 Serie A appearances for Juventus, but it is Tottenham who head the queue of interested parties.
