Stuart Pearce is in no doubt England Under-21s will continue to make positive progress despite a series of call-ups to the senior squad taking away some of his most influential performers.
His team take on Iceland in Colchester on Thursday night in their latest 2013 European Championship qualifier looking to maintain a 100 per cent start to the Group 8 campaign. But they will be without Jack Rodwell, Danny Welbeck, Phil Jones and Kyle Walker who are all with Fabio Capello's men.
However, the former England captain sees the enforced selection changes as very much an opportunity for new talent, and said: "Every time we get someone who comes out of this squad and into the senior group, it is fantastic for the players - that is what this team is all about."
