£20m Liverpool midfield target admits European dream

Liverpool are on alert over Lucas Moura after the Brazilian sensation admitted he 'dreams' of a move to Europe.

The Sao Paulo starlet has been linked with a number of clubs across Europe, with Real Madrid and Inter Milan both thought to be keen on the 19-year-old midfielder.

Kenny Dalglish is also thought to be courting the midfielder, with talkSPORT reporting earlier in the month that Liverpool were considering a £20 million move for the player.

And, whilst a move doesn't currently appeal, the Brazil international is looking to follow in some famous footsteps in moving from South America to Europe.

"My mind is focused here at Sao Paulo, in these five games of the championship and the Copa Libertadores," said the Samba star.

"And of course, all players dream of playing in a top European club but now is not the time. Next year there are the Olympics and I want to be part of it.

"I am no different to others, I want to play and fight in the top leagues. When it's time to go, my parents will know."

Liverpool already have a strong Brazilian contingent at Anfield, with Lucas Leiva and Fabio Aurelio involved in first team activities on Merseyside.

His arrival at the club would be a major coup for Liverpool, but with competition so fierce for the player a transfer battle could well ensue in the future - but not before the summer of 2012.
