Liverpool have reportedly emerged as frontrunners to sign FC Basel starlet Nicholas Hunziker.

The 15-year-old has impressed all and sundry with his goalscoring exploits in recent months, and netted a hat-trick on his youth team debut for Switzerland.

According to The Mirror, Kenny Dalglish is now 'closing in' on the striker, and has sent scout Frank McParland to view the teenager in action.

McParland is said to have been suitably impressed by Hunziker and a Liverpool bid for his services may now be in the offing.

Meanwhile, Dalglish is also reported to be making early plans for the January transfer window, and has been linked with numerous potential targets.

The Liverpool boss is alleged to be keen to bring Hugo Rodallega to Anfield, while Javi Martinez is also said to be on the radar of the Reds.

Elsewhere, it has been suggested in the Spanish press that Liverpool are pursuing Barcelona duo David Villa and Seydou Keita.
