Barcelona president Sandro Rosell is refusing to confirm whether Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth Bale is a target for the Catalans.
The Welshman's form in last season's Champions League had sparked interest from across Europe.
The likes of Real Madrid and Inter Milan had been linked with the 21-year-old, while Chelsea were also reported suitors, but Barca's nam has stuck with Bale.
"I do not know if Bale interests us," Rosell said.
"If I did, I would not say, because his price would go up. [Tottenham] would not ask for €40million [£33.2m], but €50m [£42.8m].
"In any case, even if we wanted him, we would never pay €40m for him."
As well as Chelsea's reported interest, Manchester United were said to be looking at the former Southampton man.
However, Chelsea's interest has been more persistent but know that they face a similarly difficult battle to sign Bale, as they learned with their fruitless pursuit of Luka Modric.
