'Evra replacement' deflects United rumours

Jordi Alba has, once again, attempted to deflect speculation linking him with a move to Manchester United.

The versatile Valencia defender has risen to prominence this season and was recently awarded for his exploits with a senior debut for Spain.

According to, Sir Alex Ferguson could possibly bring Alba to Old Trafford as a long-term successor for United left-back Patrice Evra.

But, when questioned about United's alleged interest, the 22-year-old said he is have not given any thought to his immediate future.

"It's too early to think about the future," explained Alba. "I've only had two calls to the national team and the competition here is very high.

"I just want to continue working to improve."

United, meanwhile, are also said to be monitoring Ajax starlet Christian Eriksen and Brazilian teenager Lucas as Ferguson continues to build a side for the future.
