Tottenham Hotspur full-back Benoit Assou-Ekotto says midfielder Scott Parker is proving to be a star addition to the ranks at White Hart Lane.

The England midfielder performed ably for his country against Spain at the weekend, marking the likes of Andres Iniesta and Xavi out of the game as Fabio Capello's side ground out a win at Wembley.

For his club, Parker's form has been equally as impressive, earning him the club's Player of the Month awards for the first two months of the season, and the Cameroonian defender says the midfielder has fitted it seamlessly.

“Scott is doing a great job in central midfield,” said Benoit. “He runs everywhere and gives everything every game.

“Everyone knows how important the midfield is in a game, so when he is in great form, so are we.

“For the first game, maybe he didn’t know everyone, but after that it was like he’d been here 10 years.

“He brings with him a positive attitude and a leader’s attitude.

“When we watch him, he has a great attitude and we can see that on the pitch. For us, he’s been a big positive.”

Parker's next opportunity to justify his reported £6 million transfer fee will come on Monday against Aston Villa, a club heavily linked with his services during the summer transfer window.
