Italian club Fiorentina are chasing Arsenal forward Andrey Arshavin, according to reports in Italy.
The diminutive Russian has found first team opportunities hard to come by this season, with Arsene Wenger favouring winger Theo Walcott and new signing Gervinho in wide positions.
Italian newspaper La Nazione has claimed the Viola will test Wenger’s resolve in January, with a sizable bid for a player who has refuted all suggestions of leaving the Emirates Stadium outfit so far.
Arshavin said to Sport Express earlier this month: “"Right now I don't think about changing clubs. If I will be benched for a very long time, then such an issue might be relevant.
“I still want to play for 90 minutes, but now I am glued to the bench.”
While he has spoken of his resolve to stay and fight for his place, a prolonged spell on the bench at the Emirates could see him open to a move in January.
Fiorentina midfielder Ricardo Montolivio has previously been linked with a move to Arsenal, and a swap deal for the pair could be mooted by one of the parties.
Any proposed deal for the Russia captain would also be sure to attract interest from his previous club Zenit St Petersburg, as well as new big spenders Anzhi Makhachkala.
