Manchester United target Alvaro Dominguez has signed a contract extension with Atletico Madrid, it has been claimed.
The 22-year-old defender has made 91 appearances for Atleti after graduating through the ranks at the Estadio Vicente Calderon.
According to Goal.com, Sir Alex Ferguson had been keen to bring Dominguez to Old Trafford but the Spain under-21 international has penned a new deal until 2015.
Also linked with Dominguez have been Inter Milan but, it would appear, he has committed himself to Los Rojiblancos for the foreseeable future.
Meanwhile, United confirmed on Friday that young midfielder Tom Cleverley would be out of action until Christmas.
The 22-year-old has not played for United since late October, and Ferguson said he will be sidelined for another month at least.
“It’s worse than we thought," explained the United boss.
"When he (Cleverley) came off against Everton he reported that it was just a bit of tightness, a bit of pain, but we’ve done further scans and he’s had a recurrence of the injury, so we’re going to have to give him a break until Christmas time, I think."
