Sergio Aguero is available for the Citizens despite a hectic international schedule and concerns over a groin injury.

Samir Nasri faces a lengthy break with tendonitis in his knee, whilst Owen Hargreaves (fitness) and Carlos Tevez are also not involved.

Cheik Tiote (knee), Sylvain Marveaux (groin) and Mike Williamson (ankle) are all out for the visitors, who will give late fitness tests to Gabriel Obertan, Shola Ameobi and Leon Best.

City plot De Rossi addition

Manchester City may have posted financial losses of £194.9 million for the year, but Roberto Mancini already has his sights set on another transfer addition in January.

Daniele de Rossi has been heavily linked with a move away from Roma in recent months, and Mancini admits his addition would be a coup at the Etihad Stadium.

However, the former Lazio manager is under no illusions that it will be difficult to prize the player away from the Stadio Olimpico.

"We are not giving up on him. If De Rossi becomes available one day, Manchester City will try to sign [him], just like Real Madrid, Chelsea and all the other big clubs," said the Italian.

"He's a superb player and one of the few who would be able to blend in in a top team. He's a complete midfielder with a lot of quality and experience."

For Newcastle, the chance to extend their unbeaten run against the league leaders is an exciting one for manager Alan Pardew.

The Magpies sit third in the Barclays Premier League after a stunning start to the campaign, but the boss is making sure his players keep their feet on the ground ahead of three tough fixtures.

"I don't think they have, I really don't. Fans, when I have been around them, are just genuinely pleased with where we are," he said when asked if people had got carried away with the start.

"They are realistic enough to know that if we can get something like two or three points from these three games, or even excel and get six points, seven points, we are going to find ourselves in a really strong position."

After City, the Toon travel to Manchester United before hosting Chelsea.
