Hamburg are reportedly waiting to pounce on talented Manchester United youngster Paul Pogba, if the Old Trafford outfit are unable to pin the 18-year-old down on a long term deal.
Pogba has emerged as one of the brightest talents from the United youth system in recent years, gaining first team experience in the Carling Cup this season as well as making his debut for the French Under 19s side.
The former Le Havre midfielder is said to be seeking assurances from United manager Sir Alex Ferguson about his future role at the club, with Arsenal leading a host of top European clubs keeping an eye on developments at Old Trafford should talks break down.
Ferguson remains confident of ensuring Pogba remains with the reigning Premier League champions despite him being free to discuss terms with other clubs from January, but TalkSport report Hamburg are increasingly confident of catching United cold and snapping up the youngster.
The Bundesliga outfit have been on a youth recruitment drive of late having snapped up Chelsea prospects Gokhan Tore and Jeffery Bruma in recent months, and Hamburg boss Thorsten Fink will no doubt see the capture of Pogba from the Red Devils as the biggest prize of the lot.
