Bent hails fellow hopeful Parker

Published Add your comment

Aston Villa striker Darren Bent has praised the form of Tottenham midfielder Scott Parker and sees similarities between the pair of them in the battle for an England Euro 2012 spot.

Bent and Parker will be on opposite sides in Monday's Barclays Premier League clash at White Hart Lane after being team-mates for England's recent victories over Spain and Sweden.

But they both have long-term goals after recently establishing themselves at the forefront of Fabio Capello's plans with places at next summer's finals in Poland and Ukraine up for grabs, and Bent said: "There are definite similarities. Scott has got into the England team at roughly the same time as I have and got the bit between his teeth. He has said 'I'm going to hang onto the shirt' - and so have I."
