Madrid star open to Chelsea move

Atletico Madrid’s Uruguayan defender Diego Godin has indicated he would be open to a move to Chelsea.

 

The Stamford Bridge side attempted to sign the Uruguayan international when Carlo Ancelotti was in charge, reports newspaper El Pais.

 

That transfer failed to materialise in January, and Chelsea ended up bringing Brazilian centre back Davis Luiz to Stamford Bridge instead.

 

Madrid are thought to value the player at £15million, quite a mark up from the £6.6million they paid Villareal for his services last year.

 

Chelsea have lost three of their last four matches, and the form of their defenders has been widely criticised, especially that of Luiz.

 

With Villas-Boas under pressure to turn things around at the Bridge, there may be temptation to delve into the January transfer window for a quick fix solution.
