Nicolas Anelka has confirmed he is likely to leave Chelsea in the near future.

 

The forward’s comments come amidst intense speculation regarding a huge contract offer from Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua.

 

Anelka has been omitted from the Chelsea squad for tonight’s Champions League clach with Bayer Leverkusen, sparking talk of an imminent exit.

 

The veteran French striker has expressed his desire to stay and win things with the Stamford Bridge club, but boss Andre Villas-Boas appears to want rid of him.

 

He told The Times : "I love playing here; Chelsea has been the best part of my career and it's been great playing and winning with terrific guys like Didier Drogba,Description: http://static.lingospot.com/spot/image/spacer.gif John Terry, Frank Lampard and Florent Malouda.

 

"I was hoping to win another league title this season, but now apparently it is not to be."

 

Anelka’s resignation towards leaving the Blues comes in a week where he has been linked with a £9.16million-a-year contract offer from Shanghai Shenua.

 

There have also been reports of neuveaux-riche Russians Anzhi Makhachkala offering the former France international one final pay-day.
