United & Arsenal striker target in Barca talks

Arsenal and Manchester United target Leandro Damiao looks to be interesting Spanish giants Barcelona.

Tottenham Hotspur had two bids for the Brazilian international rejected in the summer, whereas Arsenal have also been reported to have tabled a bid.

Manchester United and Liverpool were said to have retained an interest, but it was thought the player’s likely destination would be the Emirates Stadium or White Hart Lane.

The English sides’ hopes may be dashed at the news that current Spanish and European champions Barcelona have taken an interest in Damiao’s future though.

The Internacional hitman has almost a goal-a-game record in domestic football in 2011, as well as recently bagging his first goals for the Brazilian national team.

Damiao’s agent Vinicius Prates revealed the talks with Barcelona on twitter, saying : “Productive meeting today, Barcelona president Sandro Rosell.”

Prates even went as far as to post a picture of himself with the Barca supremo, sparking intense speculation of the Catalan club wanting to steal a deal away from the Premier League sides.

Should he join Barcelona, Damiao will team up with compatriot and Dani Alves and Adriano. Whereas Arsenal and Spurs are home to Andre Santos and Sandro respectively.
