Barcelona starlet Marc Bartra is on the brink of shunning a move to Tottenham by signing a new contract at Camp Nou reports skysports.com.
The 20-year-old defender has made his first-team debut for Pep Guardiola's side, but there have been doubts over whether or not he will be able to make an impact with the La Liga giants.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is a known admirer of the young Spaniard, and was believed to be weighing up a move to bring him to White Hart Lane in January.
Over the weekend, the Tottenham chief was quoted as saying that he will not be looking to make any further additions to his squad in January, in light of developments surrounding Bartra's impending contract offer from Barcelona.
Having been told that he has a big future at his current club, Bartra is poised to turn his back on Spurs and sign a new three-and-a-half-year deal, that will keep him in Spain until 2015.
A temporary loan move is still a possibility for Bartra as he continues his development, but that is of no interest to Tottenham who will only consider a permanent transfer.
