Gabriel Torje's agent has confirmed that Arsenal are interested in the playmaker's services.
The Gunners have sent scouts to monitor the player's progress in Serie 'A' on a nnmber of occasions, with Arsene Wenger a known admirer of the talented 22-year-old, who has been dubbed 'the Romanian Messi' in his homeland.
Clubs from across Europe are thought to have taken an interest in one of the rising stars of Italian league football, but agent Giovani Becali confirmed that Arsenal have shown a keen interest.
"Yes, it's true Arsenal like him," Becali told CalicoMercato.
"There's nothing official. We can say that there have been talks, even when the player does not move.
"In January, there is no chance that he moves. For June, we'll see. However, it's clear that the player is happy in Udine."
Contracted at the Stadio Friuli until 2016, Torje joined the Zebrete from Dinamo Bucharest in the summer transfer window for a fee in the region of €10 million.
Predominantly based on the right wing, Torje can also switch to the opposite flank, a versatility which would appeal to Arsenal boss Wenger in his preferred 4-3-3 formation.
It's unclear how much the Frenchman would have to pay to bring the player to the Emirates stadium, although his potential assists for Dutch striker Robin Van Persie makes the player an attractive option to Arsenal whatever the price.
