Newcastle United stopper Tim Krul insists the team are happy to take on anyone in the Barclays Premier League this term.
The Dutch international stopper has been in inspired form for the Magpies this term, helping them to a place in the top four thus far and a point at Old Trafford over the weekend in the 1-1 draw.
Confidence is flowing through the side from back-to-front, and Krul believes it's the effort and desire shown by the players which has been so crucial at St. James' Park so far this season.
"We can’t be happier. We have had some great results this season, but this is right up there. The effort the lads put in was incredible," Krul told The Shields Gazette.
"They put their bodies on the line – what a game! The only way to sum up the period at the end of the game was mad! There were ricochets going in everywhere.
“It was just a fantastic feeling to go off with a point. Everybody went off smiling, because everybody was fighting for each other. We knew we had to be on our toes and work our socks off. We did more than that.”
Krul was forced to admit that lady-luck was shining on the Toon against the Red Devils, unlike against Manchester City, but was adamant he and his teammates deserved the point against Sir Alex Ferguson's side.
He also reserved special praise for striker Demba Ba, whose goals have helped propel the Magpies into a Champions League qualifying position.
“The luck at Man City went against us. At Man United, it went for us. We definitely deserved it. We’re just happy to walk away with the point. They came here for a great day and they got one," he added.
“To walk away with a point is more than pleasing. We just showed that we can compete with the best.
“Demba was fantastic. He’s done it all season, and to step up in front of 70,000 with all of them whistling and trying to put them off is fantastic. He is so cool, and he has shown he’s a fantastic player. To put it away was fantastic.”
