Tottenham are reportedly tracking Villarreal midfielder Borja Valero with a view to a possible January bid.
The 26-year-old became West Brom's record signing when he moved to the Hawthorns from Mallorca for £4.7 million in the summer of 2008.
However, Valero failed to make an impact in England and was loaned back to Mallorca a year later, before temporarily joining Villarreal in 2010.
He has since signed for El Submarino Amarillo on a permanent basis, and his performances in Spain appeared to have alerted Harry Redknapp.
According to The Sun, the Spurs boss is considering a £9 million bid for Valero, which may come as early as the winter transfer window.
However, Redknapp has said that, as it stands, he has no plans to bring any reinforcements to White Hart Lane before next summer.
But, with Chelsea reported to be keen to reignite their interest in Luka Modric in the New Year, Redknapp may be forced to bolster his midfield.
