Chris Brunt has warned his side against complacency coming into three crucial fixtures for the club.
The Baggies, who sit 14th in the table, can climb into the top half with wins against QPR, Wigan and Blackburn in the pre-Christmas run in.
"We've got games coming up now where we can get a few points," said Brunt.
"But I'm sure all the other teams we're playing will be saying the same thing. It's also going to be a difficult spell – around Christmas always is."
Brunt wants to avoid the disappointment of this time last year where the midlands club didn't pick up a single point.
"It's important this year we do, otherwise we'll go into the new year looking over our shoulders, rather than upwards," added the winger.
The skipper believes his club can take positives from their 3-1 defeat at the hands of Tottenham and thanks the fans for getting behind the team.
"When the final whistle goes you can usually tell how you've done by the way the fans react and we got a positive reaction."
Brunt will look to get back to scoring ways against QPR on Saturday as he has scored on his last three trips to Loftus Road.
